The Dates That Matter
Most tax deadlines repeat every year. When a date lands on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day. California generally follows the federal dates.
January
- January 15: Fourth quarter estimated tax payment for the prior year
- January 31: W-2s and 1099s due to your workers and the IRS
March
- March 15: S corporation and partnership returns are due, or file an extension
April
- April 15: Personal and C corporation returns are due, or file an extension. Any tax owed is still due today even with an extension. First quarter estimated payment. Last day for prior year IRA and HSA contributions.
June
- June 15: Second quarter estimated payment
September
- September 15: Third quarter estimated payment. Extended S corporation and partnership returns are due.
October
- October 15: Extended personal and C corporation returns are due
