IRS Extends Tax Filing Deadline to April 18

Late Tuesday afternoon, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced an extension to the tax filing deadline after its systems for electronically filing tax returns were offline for most of the day. Tax filers now have until midnight on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 to submit their returns and make tax payments.

Despite the glitch with the IRS systems, TaxAct’s services remained uninterrupted throughout the day and continued to accept e-filed returns successfully. If you prepared and filed your return with TaxAct earlier today, you do not need to resubmit your information. If you are currently completing your tax return, you should continue to file as normal.

If you have any questions about your tax return or the filing process, please email assistance@taxact.com.
