TaxAct® and Feeding America®: Partnering in the Mission to End Hunger

Just a few months ago, the world we all share began to change in unforeseeable ways. As we unite in an effort to stop the spread and impact of COVID-19, many of us find ourselves asking how we can help those most in need.

That’s why we believe there’s never been a better time to join forces with non-profit networks like Feeding America®, our nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Through this partnership, TaxAct’s efforts to donate 10 million meals supports the drive to end hunger in this country and give all families access to nutritious, fresh meals — no matter their financial situation.

A mission that matters

Feeding America’s mission isn’t a new one. Since 1979, its nationwide network has grown to feed more than 46.5 million people through community-based food banks, shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, and more.

More than 37 million Americans struggle with hunger, including 11 million children and 7 million seniors, individuals who are most at risk for hunger and its many consequences during unprecedented times like these.

The impact of COVID-19 cannot be underestimated, particularly now as the virus continues to affect people of all ages in cities across the country. That’s why it’s more important than ever to spread awareness of charitable organizations like Feeding America, allowing individuals and businesses to make the decision to join in donating meals to those in need.

“The COVID-19 Response Fund helps Feeding America member food banks across the country efficiently and effectively serve their communities so that food is not added to a family’s list of worries during these challenging times,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America. “Hunger is real, but hunger is solvable. We’re grateful for partners like TaxAct that make providing hunger-relief possible.”

Donating to a worthy cause

TaxAct has committed to donating 10 meals on behalf of every filer who uses any of its 2019 Online Editions to file a federal 1040 return between April 1 and April 15 to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund. To support this goal, we invite you and your family to visit taxact.com to file so, together, we can help the millions of people forced to choose between affording food and other basic necessities.

“While the entire country navigates the monumental impact of the Coronavirus, many families are faced with challenging financial decisions,” said Curtis Campbell, president of TaxAct. “Some have lost their jobs while others have taken a pay cut. For many in those situations, that financial loss means they have to choose between buying groceries and paying another bill. At TaxAct, we want to do our part to alleviate some of that stress by helping families to put food on their tables throughout the coming months.”
